About The Role:

The Custodian plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless functioning of the facility by maintaining cleanliness, safety, and order across all areas of the facility.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize prayer areas, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.
• Keep wudu areas clean, sanitized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning materials and paper supplies.
• Clean windows, walls, and surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling bins, replacing liners as needed and ensure proper disposal.
• Perform minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs and tightening fixtures.
• Report safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors promptly.
• Assist with setting up and cleaning up for programs, meetings or events.
• With the Sr. custodian, conduct a weekly walkthrough of the entire building, keep a checklist of maintenance and repair items, and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
• Close the masjid on a daily basis and ensure the building is secure.
• Provide additional support during Jumuah, Ramadan, and special events.

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus.
• The ability to operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals safely is required.
• A basic understanding of safety and sanitation standards is also necessary.
• Basic handyman/repair skills are highly preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Attention to detail and thoroughness.
• Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Good time management and reliability.

Work Hours / Schedule:

• Regular schedule to be determined (e.g., mornings, evenings, or split shifts).
• Must be available to close the masjid daily.
• Flexibility required for Jumuah, Ramadan, and special programs.
